Harvesting 1949 04
FILE:
DESCRIPTION: The work being carried out in September 1949 was harvesting probably oats for horse and cattle feed. The machine being used was a binder to cut and bind the oats. This was then loaded onto the ex army Fordson lorry by a number of Ampthill Fire Men and Policemen earning some extra money. This was driven to the stackyard up at the farm and made into a rick for the time in Winter when it was needed. A Threshing machine would then visit to thresh out the oats.
