DESCRIPTION: Shefford. General Election 1950. This series of pictures show the eventual winner Alan Lennox- Boyd, Conservative, using a new sound system, here at the Tile Factory in Shefford. Alan Lennox-Boyd, Conservative, was elected, as he had been in every General Election since 1931. Nationally the Election resulted in Labour receiving a slim majority of just 5 seats over all other parties, and the party called another General Election in 1951 which the Conservatives won with an overall majority of 17.
